INVITATION TO THE OUTDOORSThere are many ways of worshipping the Lord. Some people worship Him through musical instruments, voice, or in word. Others prefer to worship Him by their giving or by their serving. No matter. We are to worship the Lord with all of our heart, soul, spirit and mind no matter what or where we are at in life. This being said, one of many ways to worship the Lord is through His creation. The following are some ways that you could acknowledge and observe who God is by learning about the outdoors.
Observation nature journal:
A way to start seeing who the Lord is, is to observe the outdoors. Start by buying a notebook, and a pen. I use a 91/2 x 6 inch notebook. This notebook will be your observation notebook. I call it my observation nature journal. Take a walk and when you can, sit and listen to what you hear, see, and smell. Then start writing. If I can’t get away from my home I will sit outside with a cup of tea and start writing. I will try and write a bible verse, many times coming out of Psalms. Always putting the date and time and the weather temperature. Below is an example from one of my nature journal entries:
Saturday morning. Mark spotted two buck deer in our garden. What an incredible sight!!!! Hot morning.
Woke up this morning to Mr. sunshine. After 3 days of 5 degrees of cold, the sun peeped out with blue skies. Ethan ran in our roomand told Mark and I that there were deer by our window. We peeked out and sure enough a buck and a doe standing on the icy white snow. Last week Joy saw the same buck deer and started to sketch it. Coldest winter I have felt in Colorado in 14 years. Psalm 42:1 As the deer pants for the water brooks. So my soul pants for you O God.
I used to think that you had to go to art school to learn how to draw. I have since learned that in Genesis God said ” That we were created in His image.” Since we were created in His image we were made to create. Therefore, we just need to observe the Master artist and draw what we see. Don’t feel intimidated. Start with something small. Below is a leaf I found and thought it was pretty even though the color was almost out of it. I am not an artist, I just happened to be in love with the Master artist!!! God created you in Psalm 139 and wants you to know Him intimately. Give it a try. If you really feel as if you are not confident enough I will in the next few months have an easy e-book study guide to help you along. God bless you on your journey in learning who the Lord is.
